North Bay Village is a fully incorporated community set upon three islands in eastern Miami-Dade County. The islands, North Bay Island, Harbor Island and Treasure Island are linked by the John F. Kennedy Causeway as it travels across Biscayne Bay from Miami to Miami Beach. The islands were created back in the 1940’s by dredging the bay and bulk-heading the fill. The intent was to create a spectacular environment for northerners to spend their winters living the Florida island lifestyle. The success of that plan is evident today, even though most residents are now year-round. Soon after initial construction, North Bay Village became renowned for its restaurants and nightlife, attracting the very rich and the very famous to its islands. North Bay Island is a lush, tropical paradise adorned with lovely single-family homes. Harbor Island and Treasure Island have advanced into the same sort of idyllic residential areas. Harbor Island is made up mostly of condominiums, while Treasure Island is a mixture of both single and multi-family dwellings. Some of the regions most popular restaurants are here and its always a treat to come to North Bay Village for shopping or simply for strolling.
